In-form Asante kotoko striker Kwame Poku has set his targets ahead of the 2020/21 Football season
The striker has become something of a cult hero for the kotoko Supporters since joining from lower- tier side Nkoranza Warriors with his impressive displays in the club’s pre-season games.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Fox FM after the club’s draw game against Samartex at Samreboi, Poku said, he always wants to be on the scoresheets whenever he get the opportunity to play and promised fans of club
“It’s the core duty of a Striker to score goals in a game so I always want to score whenever I am playing and that’s what I am currently doing”
“For now we are all working together as a team and you come to training grounds you could see that everyone is working hard to be part of the first team so since we are all United and getting to know ourselves more, I think fans will see the old kotoko as everyone already knows so we are praying for a successful campaign so we can lift the league title”
“How the team is building up, if we continue this way, we can win the league.
He added that, the kotoko midfielders together with the defence are doing well as compared to the previous times and this make the strikers flourish in the coming season.
“I heard a lot of news about how bad the kotoko attack is but see, if you don’t have a good defence and midfield, whoever will play upfront will not excel. The team is okay now from defence to the midfield, so whoever will be selected to lead the lines I believe will prosper”.
Kwame Poku who has scored five goals in five pre-season games for Asante kotoko with fans desperate for him to kick on and achieve greatness for the club further revealed that his main target is to see any of the strikers in the team win the golden boots award.
“My target this season is to see one of the kotoko strikers winning the goal king award. As I earlier indicated, the defence and midfield is solid now so I have a belief that anyone who gets the nod to play upfront will score goals”.
Asante kotoko currently have Naby Keita, William Opoku Mensah, Evans Adomako Wiredu, Osman Ibrahim and Kwame Poku as strikers going into the new season.
