The newly commissioned Mamprobi Astro Turf has been officially named after legendary Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah.
The AstroTurf was today Friday, December 3 commissioned by the Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Development Authority Jerry Ahmed Shaib at Mamprobi Ablekuma South Constituency.
The facility financed by the Government of Ghana under the Infrastructure For Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), aka “one million dollars per constituency initiative” through CODA.
The turf, which was constructed by Blaze Investment Co Ltd and MSH- Astro Turf has been officially christened Stephen Appiah pitch.
The facility will also enhance training and development of sporting talents in the constituency and equip the youth with the needed skills to compete with the rest of the world, and will also serve as events grounds for the community.
Mamprobi is area where legends like Stephen Appiah, Edmund Cobson, Sam Johnson among others great players hail from.
