Reigning African Cup of Nations Title holders Algeria thrashed Ghana Black Stars of Ghana 3-0 in a one sided clash in Doha ahead of the 2022 AFCON openers.

The Desert Foxes outclassed their West African opposition in the pre-tournament clash staged in Qatar.

An opening goal from Adams Ounas was followed by an own goal from Jonathan Mensah before Ismail Slimani sealed the emphatic win in the pretourney shake up.

Without some of their star players for the clash with Ghana, Algeria named a rather unfamiliar line up for the friendly match.

The absence of Riyad Mahrez barely affected the Foxes as they raced to a 1-0 lead less than 5 minutes into the game.

Adams Ounas toyed with Ghana’s Gideon Mensah before slotting home the opener from an acute angle.

It was a goal that inspired the North Africans into commanding gear as they took absolute control of the game from the opener.

The Black Stars fought their way into the match bit could not break the well oiled defensive unit of the reigning AFCON Champions.

The start of the second half saw Jonathan Mensah scoring an own goal after some neat work down the flank by Adams Ounas to put the Foxes 2-0 up.

Islam Slimani made it 3-0 to end any hope for a Ghana in the preparation match.

Ghana lost Issahaku Fatawu to an injury with barely 72 hours to the tournament kick off.
