Medeama SC were left with nothing going back to Tarkwa after Dreams FC handed them a 2-1 defeat in their week 2 of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier league match played at rhe Theater of Dreams.
It was Medeama SC who started the attacks on their hosts, forcing Goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi to make two timely interventions in the first 10 minutes of the first half.
Dreams FC seemed to warm themselves into the match, with Agyenim Boateng and Joseph Esso leading their attack.
With Justice Black taking control of the midfield, Dreams FC seperated their two most prolific players Emmanuel Okran and Joseph Esso to the right and left flanks, opening up play to allow Michael Agbekpornu to man the central midfield.
With this new system of play, Dreams FC resorted to long searching balls to their attacks.
The style didn’t seem to work to their perfection as Medeama defence mapped up a strategy to keep them at bay, this forced many offside calls by center referees to the displeasure of the Home officials, the defensive strategy of Medeama lost touch in the 14th minute when Joseph Esso caught Ibrahim Yaro in one of the long balls, dribbled him, and shot to the blind side of Goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi for the first goal.
After the goal, Dreams FC relaxed their attack, and allowed Medeama to enjoy play with Agyenim Boateng, Samuel Appiah, and Michael Yeboah dictating the pace of the game.
With Abdul Basit in their attack, Medeama looked to serve him, but crosses from Patrick Yeboah, and Justice Blay ended in the hands of Goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi.
The second half of the game had more life as both sides raised the standard of play, with series of exchanges in thw Opposition half.
Coach Samuel Boadu was the first to throw in his first substitution, and in doing so, he made all his three mandated substitution bringing in Kalibo Toussaint, Kwadwo Asamoah, and Richard Boadu to enhance his attack, Windred Dormon responded with two substitutions with Ibrahim Issah, and Precious Baah takjng over duties from Agyenim Boateng, and Emmanuel Okrah.
The substitutions seemed ti have benefited Medeama who had their equalizer in the 72nd minute after a mix up in the goal area with Goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi beaten, Kwadwo Asamoah who was lurking around pounced on the lose ball and slotted in for Medeama SC.
Dreams FC responded to the game, with pressure on their opponents with Joseph Esso leading the attack.
Just when Medeama SC thought thwy had run away with a draw, Joseph Esso was seen to have been impeded in the box for referee to award a penalty for Ibrahim Issah to scored in the 90th minute.
Time was obviously not on the side of Medeama to make something of the game, and will have to drive to Tarkwa with nothing to show.
