A first half goal by Justus Torsutsey was enough to give WAFA a home win over Legon Cities in a Ghana Premier League Match Week 24 fixture played on Saturday.
The Academy Boys welcomed Legon Cities to the Sogakope WAFA Park, searching for their second consecutive win after beating Medeama in the last game.
They had lost their last home game to Great Olympics and needed a result to compensate their home fans as well.
Legon Cities went into the encounter hoping for a positive result to boost their survival chances.
However their hopes were dashed after the half-hour mark when Torsutsey scored to give the home side the lead.
The scoreline stayed same until the end of the game to give WAFA the maximum points. The result takes them to the 5th position on 38 points while Legon Cities still occupy the 15th spot on 26 points.
Legon Cities could drop into the relegation zone if results from other matches don’t favor them.
