Ministry of Youth and Sports congratulates Herbert Mensah on election as Rugby Africa President

Herbert Mensah has received a congratulatory message from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, following his election as Rugby Africa president.

Herbert was elected as president of the Africa Rugby during the 15th General Assembly in Cape Town South Africa, on Saturday, March 18, 2023 after the voting.

The former Asante Kotoko chairman polled 30 votes to beat his main contender George Owuo from Uganda who had just one vote.

The Ghanaian will take over from Khaled Babbou and will lead Rugby Africa for the next four years, and has received a message from the MYO, congratulating him for his victory.

A portion of the letter addressed to Herbert Deen on Saturday, March 18 read:

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports congratulates the President of the Rugby Association of Ghana, Mr. Herbert Mensah for making the entire country proud by winning the highest position of the Rugby Federation in the continent.

We believe this victory came about as a result of your passion and commitment to develop the sport in Africa.

It is our fervent hope that you will excel in your elevated role and use your position to develop the sport to the highest standard across Africa and beyond”
