Dreams FC defeated Legon Cities 1-0 after extra-time at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu to secure a place in the semi-final of the 2022/23 MTN FA Cup.
The home side dominated the first 45 minutes of the game but didn’t really threaten the goal of Legon Cities. Dreams only came close to scoring in the 8th minute when Gael Aholou sent a feeble a header straight into the hands of Goalkeeper William Essu.
In the second half, both sides displayed some good football under the watch of the Head Coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton. However, big chances were hard to come by as the game ended scoreless and went into extra-time.
Dreams FC started the extra-time with added impetus and opened the scoring in the 103rd minute, Ebenezer Adade after winning the ball made a decent run into the box, before curling the ball past the goalkeeper.
In the remaining minutes of the game, Legon Cities dominated the game and created some good chances but the Dreams FC defense stayed resilient to win 1-0 and secure a place in the semifinal for the second consecutive time.
Dreams FC will now face the winner of the game between Division One sides, Skyy FC and Ebusua Dwarfs in the semifinal to be played later this month.
