Ussif Mustapha is an old boy of Bagabaga Teacher Training College in the Northern Region. He went on to Anglia Ruskin University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and Management in 2010.
He proceeded to the University of Gloucestershire where he graduated in 2011 with his Master’s Degree in Finance and Investment.
Mustapha worked as an Investment Analyst at Ray and Associates, UK in 2010. That same year, he joined Action Aid UK where he worked as a Freelance Consultant.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif was Member of Parliament for Yagbe/Kubore Constituency between 2012 – 2016 and later lost his seat to Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul Rauf Tanko of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016 and he won his seat back in 2020 after he defeated Hon. Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul Rauf Tanko in the 2020 Parliamentary Elections.
Hon. Ussif won 18, 153 votes (64.01%) while 9, 393 votes (33.14%) were recorded for the incumbent, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul Rauf Tanko.
Mustapha Ussif was appointed as the National Service Scheme (NSS) Executive Director in 2017.
Hon. Ussif has served on various committees in Parliament between 2013-2017 which include; the Mines and Energy Committee, and the Standing Orders Committee Committee.
Under his watch, National Service Scheme (NSS) has received a boost in its public image due to the laudable operational innovations such as the introduction of new modules, digitization enrolment system, paperless registration system, certificate delivery system among many others.
In view of these commendable achievements, he got bestowed with “Best Young ECO of The Year – Public Sector by the Entreneurs Foundation of Ghana in 2018 and also 2019 Inspirational Public Sector Leadership Award by Imani Ghana.
He was again awarded in 2020 by the Voiceless Media and Consult for leading the Scheme to embark on many operational initiatives and innovations that have made national service stress-free and attractive to national service personnel.
