REPORTS: Paintsil, Gyan and Ashimeru left out of Ghana World Cup squad
Felix Afena-Gyan, Majeed Ashimeru and Joseph Paintsil have been excluded from Otto Addo’s final Black Stars squad for the 2022 World Cup according to multiple reports.
Paintsil’s possible exclusion will come as a shock to many as he has been in fine form for KRC Genk this season.
The winger has been directly involved in 11 goals from 13 Belgium top-flight games.
Ashimeru, who currently plies his trade for Anderlecht, is also expected to miss out.
He has made just one appearance in the Black Stars shirt, a game which took place in 2017.
Felix Afena-Gyan has struggled at new club US Cremonese this season.
The 19-year-old is yet to find the net in the Serie A and has played just 158 minutes so far.
The positive news for Ghana Premier League fans is the reported inclusion of Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh in the squad.
Otto Addo is expected to officially release his final 26-man squad during the week.
