Young shot-stopper Richard Baidoo has penned an emotional farewell to Karela United after his loan spell with the Anyinase-based club came to an end.
Baidoo, originally owned by reigning Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak, was shipped out on loan for first team experience and grabbed the opportunity with both arms as he excelled in the immediate past 2020/21 football season.
Despite the efforts of the Passion and Pride to make the loan deal a permanent one, parent club Hearts of Oak were more than convinced by the superlative display of the young custodian this recalling him from his loan spell.
His performances in between the sticks for Karela United did not go unnoticed as the technical handlers of the national teams i.e. Black Meteors and Black Stars B gave him the opportunity to serve the nation.
To underscore the confidence reposed in him by his parent club, Baidoo has been added to the 36-man squad submitted by the one-time African champions ahead of their participation in the impending 2021-2022 CAF Champions League.
Below is Baidoo’s heartwarming message to Karela United after a fruitful loan spell:
We thank God for one of the greatest football seasons of my life as a young Goalkeeper who by the help of God, Accra Heart of Oaks and Karela United, had the chance to play in the Ghana Premier League in the 2020/21 season.
Emotions and feelings at the moment has made writing this to Karela United, the fans and the entire Anyinase people a difficult task this day.
It’s seriously with a heavy heart that I write to you how appreciative I am for the confidence you had in me and giving me much exposure during the league season. It’s therefore a one year to remember for me and my family. I am extremely grateful.
But as planned before my coming to Karela United, the time has come for me to go back to my parent club (ACCRA HEART OF OAKS) and continue with the good works Karela United helped me to do during this unforgetable one year.
To the chairman of Karela United, the management board, the coach, and the entire technical team, the medical team and the playing body, I say God richly bless and increase you in all you do.
And to the goalkeepers trainer and the goalkeeping department, words just can’t describe the love we shared together. I will seriously miss sharing the dressing room with team Karela United.
Karela United! Karela United!! Karela United!!! It was just a year with you, but a season with two national team call-ups (a maiden call-up to the U23 and another to the Black Stars B) is GREAT.
YES, WE ARE THE PRIDE OF NZEMA;;;Yes, I played on loan, but you made me a CHAMPION.
I love Karela United, I love Anyinase. It’s therefore my prayer and wish that I will oneday come back and help Karela United with everything I have .
Looking forward to work with you one day.
