Shika Mckorley produced some of the her best tennis to battle past Tarkwa based Tracy Ampah to reach Mcdan Open training matches ladies singles final.
The 13 year old, Shika won 6-1,7-5 in 45minutes at the National tennis center, Accra. She will now face Winneba’s Mariama Ibrahim who defeated ladies No.1 seed Yvonne Bruce Tagoe 4-6,6-4,6-4 in the ladies final.
In the first set, Shika got off the blistering start, taking a quick first set with four breaks.
In the second set, Shika took 5-1 only for Tracy to reduce the unforced errors that cost her the first set and began to take charge. At five all, Shika rediscovered her form and won her game with her aggressiveness which broke Tracy’s serve to win the game 7-5.
Speaking to ghanatennis.org Shika said, “I think i played my best match so far in the tournament. A very very good feeling. The score looks way easier than the match was. I think I was lucky to earn an early break on each set and then i was able to hold my serve well.”
In other semi-final games: Benjamin Fumi defeated No.1 seed Japheth Bagerbaseh 6-1,6-3. Johnson Acquah also beats Reginald Okantey 4-6,6-4,6-4.
