Sports minister Mustapha Ussif tasks Ghana FA to bring AFCON Trophy home

The Minister of Youth and Sports Hon Mustapha Ussif has tasked the Leadership of the Ghana Football Association to do everything within their power to bring the Africa cup of Nations trophy home next year from Cameroon.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif insist the AFCON trophy is his main objective as a minister, and therefore bent of doing everything possible to get the trophy for Ghanaians.

The minister told a delegation of Ghana FA executive council members led by the president Kurt Okraku.

The Ghana FA leadership had paid a courtesy call on the minister to welcome him to the new office, and offer their support to him.

Hon. Mustapha in addressing his guest maintained, he has to set objectives that are achievable, and one of them is to fulfill the desire of the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo’s dream of winning the AFCON title, and his responsibility is to ensure the FA delivers it.

“As a Minister, I should set objectives and work towards it so the Africa Cup of Nations is my next target. It is the dream of H.E Nana Akufo Addo, President of Ghana to win the AFCON and as a Minister, whatever we require to win the trophy, let’s start working on it now.

The member of Parliament for Yagaba/Kubore Constituency further tasked the Ghana FA to ensure the Black Stars qualifies to the 2022 World cup to be hosted in Qatar.

“The next thing is to qualify for the World Cup in 2022. We have done it before and we can do it again.

The Minister assured the FA of his commitment to invest in Football, and very ready to push the FA in securing financial injunction into the game.

“I am ready; the way to go is to invest in the game and I can assure you that my Ministry will give you the needed push to succeed’’ the Hon. Minister added.

He also expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the Ghana FA for visiting his office, and supporting him since he assumed office in February.

“I am extremely happy to host you today at my office” He added.
