The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 13th African Games, Accra 2023, Hosts Media seminar in Accra
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 13th African Games held a pivotal media seminar in Accra today Thursday February 22, 2024 which is aimed at providing insights into the upcoming multi-sport event.
The event took place at the Sunlodge Hotel, to provided guidelines for effective media coverage and operational success.
Speaking to the media, the Executive Chairman of the LOC, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare charged the media to provide positive publicity on the biggest sports event in Ghana scheduled to take place from Friday, March 8 to Saturday, March 23, 2024
He asserted that 53 countries are set to participate in the tournament with over 29 sporting disciplines.
“I want to urge you to come out with good narratives about the games, there’s no way we will not have the games. Let the world know what we are going to showcased, that is why we are here today. Let us try as much as possible to paint the right picture for everybody to see how Ghana intends to host the games and how prepared we all for the games” he stated
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif Yusif has disclosed that the 13th African Games which is set to be hosted by Ghana has created not less than 4,000 job opportunities for Ghanaians.
He made this known at a media seminar organized by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the African Games in Accra on Thursday February 22, 2024.
He stated that Ghana stands to benefit immensely from hosting the tournament which is scheduled to take place from Friday, March 8 to Saturday, March 23, 2024.
”On the socio-economic front, the games will contribute to boosting commerce, transportation and also tourism. From the time we won the bid to host the event, Accra 2023 has created a number of jobs for many Ghanaians; that is from the construction stage, we’ve engaged not less than 4,000 Ghanaians” he stated.
Chef de Mission for the games, Ernest Danso assured Ghanaians that the coaches and the athletes are well prepared to win medals for the country.
