Today In Sports History: Kotoko Conquer Hearts of Oak To Win Africa Soccer Zone Competition Fantasy Club Fans Competition
On this day May 16 2020 ( Exactly one year ago today) Asante Kotoko SC were crowned maiden champions of the African Soccer Fantasy Club Knockout Competition after beating rivals Hearts of Oak SC on Saturday.
The competition was put together by African Soccer Zone in a poll format on Facebook for fans to vote for their teams with the objective to determine which club has the best online support base on the continent.
The competition brought together 64 African clubs include Al Ahly, TP Mazembe, Simba FC, Yanga, Medeama, Orlando Pirates, Kano Pillars, Kaizer Chiefs etc to compete in the unprecedented online competition.
Over 21,300 votes were cast in the final with Asante Kotoko with the Reds racking 56% while their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak got 44% after 24 hours of an intense contest.
The Porcupines have made it clear that they have as much support base than their rivals as they do on the field in recent times.
