The Chief de Mission for Team Ghana at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Mr. Mike Aggrey says it is time to break the no medal chain at the biggest sports festival in the world.

Speaking on Inquest with Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare on Thursday evening, he stressed that government need to support the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) to prepare the athletes into championship form.

Ghana last won a bronze medal in 1992 through football, however the football team, Black Meteors have not qualified since 2004.

Boxing is the nation’s big hope, which has given the nation three medals: silver in 1960 in Rome and two bronze medals in Tokyo 1964 and Munich 1972 respectively.

The CDM (leader of delegation) hinted that the GOC expects at least 15 athletes to qualify in weight lifting, swimming and judo alongside boxing and athletics.
