Chairmperson of the Ghana Women’s Premier League (WPL), Hilary Boaten has heaped praises on FIFA for the $500, 000 support for Women’s Football.
Earlier this week, FIFA has announced a support plan for its member Associations who will be benefiting from a $1.5 billion relief fund in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
All members of association will receive an additional grant of $500,000 which will be allocated specifically to Women’s football as stated by the world football governing body (FIFA).
Speaking on Asempa FM, Hilary Boaten said, “We thank FIFA for this fund. FIFA has shown that agenda women’s football is on their priority. FIFA has stated specific amount to be given to the development of women’s football to all the associations.
“Women’s Football in Ghana, is not only about the Women’s Premier League. We have other divisions like the Women’s Division One League which we were about to start before this pendemic. We also have the Women’s FA Cup, women’s grassroot Football as well as the women’s U-17 team, the Maidens, Princess, and the Black Queens,” she added.
“I know at the right time, when the FA receives the money, they will let us know and see how we will distribute it to make sure that all women’s football benefits”, she noted.
